Football has been played since 1869, with low success in the early years. It wasn't until the turn of the century - 1890s-1910s that Wesley had consistent success, winning 13 Premierships.
The first interstate game was in 1903 when a team went to Adelaide and played Prince Alfred College and St Peter's. Teams consisted of 20 players until 1899 when it was reduced to 18. The first Captain of Football was JC Lupton, 1870.

The uniform insignia for Football Colours is a silver lion's head badge, on his cap XVIII in gold and on the blazer pocket XVIII in gold.
