TitleYalk Yalk WomanDescriptionPaddy was born in Arnhem Land and lived in an Aboriginal Community on the top end of the Northern Territory. He worked as a stockman for more than 20 years, then his father taught him to paint and he started painting in 1983. He recalls learning his traditional customs and Dreamtime stories from his father and uncles and being taken to sacred sites which he later fought to keep as traditional land for his clan. He was considered a Jungai – a caretaker/policeman of the area, and much respected as a storyteller, dancer, singer and bark painter. His style is a fusion of western Arnhem land with the north-eastern style of figure drawing.TechniqueSugar lift aquatintCreatorPaddy Fordham WainburrangaDimensions74 x 48.5cm (plate size) CategoryArt | Indigenous Art Collection
