TitleMarrapinti c. 2003DescriptionHer paintings depict sacred women’s sites and ceremonies in Kintore and Kiwirrkura region, near Papunya, Northern Territory. As an elder she was one of the few women allowed to paint certain aspects of the Dreamings. Marrapinti is a rock hole where these sacred women’s ceremonies are held. It is also a place where seasonal desert food is found. The colours and tightness of the lines display the complexity of stories, survival and landscape come together. Naata came to Papunya from the bush in 1962, later moving to Kintore in the 1980s.
