The historic Venetian well-head commemorates former students who served in the First World War. It is a copy of an original well head in Venice. Given to the school by Adamson before WWI it became a memorial when war started, which is why the years start at 1914, the thinking being the war would be over quickly. As the war dragged on further years were inscribed.
